Locals Discover Precious Metals
Ten swimmers from the Morris County
Swim Club came out of the pool with a cache of Silver and Gold times
at the Memorial Invitational Swim Meet held at Rutgers University May
23-24. The 27 earned Gold times qualify the swimmers for the NJ
Swimming Long Course Junior Olympics in July. Long course meets are
held at 50-meter pools, like in the Olympics. The 21 Silver times
qualify the athletes for the final qualifier leading up to the
championships. 22 of the finishes were personal Best Times and the
swimmers set 12 club records.
Boonton Twp’s Garrett Pullis led the
club to the metals find with 6 Gold times and 2 1st place
finishes. His six Gold’s included 4 qualifying times for entry in
the USA Swimming Northeast Zone Championships taking place in
Maryland in August. Pullis took first place in the M13-14 50
Freestyle in 27.08 and the 100 Freestyle in 57.97. His other Zone
times came in the 200IM with a 4th place time of 2:27.91
and the 100 Butterfly 2nd place finish in 1:03.32. Pullis
set club records in all 6 events. “It’s great for our 3-year old
club to have swimmers like Garrett & Brian setting the record
times for our younger swimmers to aim for. It’s not an easy task to
be setting the examples. We’re asking these young swimmers to take
on leadership roles”, commented Coach Al Ledgin of Basking Ridge.
Brian Stiles of Denville followed up
with 6 Gold times of his own, including 3 top-10 finishes. Stiles
earned 5th place in the M13-14 200 Backstroke in 2:34.41
and 7th place in the 100 Backstroke in 1:11.90, both club
records. Stiles also set a personal Best Time and 8th
place in the 100 Freestyle in 1:01.53.
Sister Jessica Stiles earned 5th
place with a Gold time of 31.00 in the W11-12 50 Freestyle and
gathered Silver times in 5 other events, improving in 4. Stiles’ 50
Butterfly finish in 36.70 set a club record. She also set personal
Best Times in the 50 Breaststroke in 47.07, 100 Freestyle in 1:11.70
and 200 Freestyle in 2:37.30.
Brother Michael Stiles also shared in
the clubs weekend success, earning 4 Silver times. He set personal
Best Times in the M10&U 100 Breaststroke in 1:53.12 and 50
Backstroke in 45.58.
Head Coach Jenn Ciulla of Madison
exclaimed, “It’s the swimmers, like Garrett, Brian, Jessica,
Michael and others that are really building this club.” While the
parents provide the resources and we’re the coaches, the swimmers
are the real owners of this club. It’s their hard work and
dedication that makes us strong and they’re setting the stage for
years and years of club success. They’ll look back in 10 or 20
years and see that they were the one’s that established and built
the MCSC, something they should be very proud of.”

place and qualified for the USA Swimming Northeast Zone Championships
with a 57.97 in the M13-14 100 meter Freestyle at the Memorial
Invitational held May 23-24 at Rutgers University. Pullis swims for

Jessica Stiles of Denville swam to a
5th place Gold time finish with a 31.00 W11-12 50 Freestyle finish at
the Memorial Invitational held May 23-24 at Rutgers University.
Stiles competed for the Morris County Swim Club at the 50-meter, long
course meet.

Patrick Bauer of Morristown and Fara
Cohen of Convent Station were local swimmers taking Silver and Gold
at the meet. Bauer swam to 3 Gold and 3 personal Best Times. Bauer’s
Gold times came in the M10&U 100 Backstroke in 1:37.20, 50
Backstroke in 43.95 and 100 Freestyle in 1:21.84. Bauer personal Best
Time of 38.14 in the 50 Freestyle was a Silver time. Cohen grabbed a
Gold time in the W10&U 50 Freestyle and 7th place
finish with a 36.02, an improvement of 0.49. Cohen added 5 Silver
times and 2 personal Best Times with a 48.03 50 Backstroke and a
1:25.14 100 Freestyle.

Hopf Grabs Silver & Gold

Hollie Hopf of Succasunna grabbed 4
Gold times, two Silvers and a club record at the meet. Hopf had 3
top-10, Gold time finishes, including a 5th place in the
W10&U 50 Butterfly in 39.70 and 2 8th places with a
36.19 50 Freestyle and a 1:36.33 100 Butterfly. The 100 Fly time is a
new club record for the W10&U group. Hopf also swam 1.26 better
for a personal Best and Gold time in the 100 Freestyle with a
1:20.77.

personal Best Time in the W10&U 100 Freestyle in 1:20.77 at the
Memorial Invitational at Rutgers University May 23-24. She also set a
club record 1:36.33 in the W9-10 100 Butterfly at the Long Course,
50-meter competition for the Morris County Swim Club.

Trinco Gathers Silver & Gold
Ten swimmers from the Morris County
Swim Club came out of the pool with a cache of Silver and Gold times

Charlie Trinco of Randolph earned 2
Gold times, a Silver time and a club record at the meet. Trinco’s 2
Gold times also nabbed to top-10 finishes. Trinco’s 53.08 finish in
the Women’s 10 & Under 50 Breaststroke captured a 6th
place and her 1:44.01 100 Breaststroke was good for an 8th
place and an MCSC club record. Trinco set personal Best Times in the
50 Freestyle with a 41.04 and 50 Backstroke in 47.32.

Matthew Carey of Madison swam to 4 Gold
times, 2 Silver times and a club record at the meet. Carey had 2
top-10 finishes; including a 9th place in the M10&U 50
Breaststroke in 51.24 and a 10th place in the 50 Butterfly
with a club record 41.74. In addition to the 50 Fly Gold time, Carey
set personal Best Times and found Gold in the 50 Freestyle in 36.71,
50 Backstroke with 44.61 and 100 Freestyle in 1:22.28.
Amanda Wisolmerski took time from her
busy soccer schedule to take part in the meet and earned a personal
Best Time of 33.07 in the W13-14 50 Freestyle.
