Pace Fast Times For Club
Jamie Viotto of Morris Township and
Gabrielle Ferrara of Morristown led the Morris County Swim Club to a
club record 22 Gold Times, 40 Silver and 124 Best Times at the Sharks
Last Chance Meet February 9 & 10. Viotto earned 9 Gold Times in
10 events and 7 Best Times. Gold Times qualify athletes for the NJ
Junior Olympics, being held in March at Rutgers University. He scored
7 Top-10 finishes; including a 2nd place in the M10&U
200 Freestyle in a time of 2:19.52 an improvement of 3.86 seconds.
Ferrara crushed her previous marks,
setting Best Times in 6 of 6 events in dramatic fashion. While
cutting 11.33 in her W11-12 200 Freestyle, big drops in time came in
the swimmers 50-yard events. Ferrara slashed 8.05 in the 50 Butterfly
to finish 37.79, sliced 3.53 in the 50 Breaststroke to finish 49.85,
cut 3.31 in the 50 Backstroke for a 36.65 and a Silver Time and
capped the meet with a 4.02 drop in the 50 Freestyle to finish 32.74.
The Silver Time enables the swimmer to compete in the Silver
Championships, the final opportunity to earn Gold Times and entry in
the NJ Junior Olympics being held in March.
Also from Morristown, Patrick Bauer
earned an improved Silver Time in the M10&U 50 Back with a 41.19
and also sliced 3.96 for a 51.72 finish in the 50 Breast. Lauren
Goldhirsch continued her streak of improvements with cuts in 2 of 2
events, dropping 1.23 in the W10&U 50 Free and earning a Silver
time in 35.39. Jeff Johnson also scored a Best Time in the 50 Back
with a 1.53 improvement for a 43.20 in the M11-12 group. Allison
Leung snapped 2.72 from her W10&U 50 Back to earn a 44.64 finish
and trimmed time in her 50 Free to 36.67. Alli Remler slashed 6.51 to
finish the W10&U 50 Breast in 53.27.
Also from Morris Township, Casey
Hasenbein was 3 for 3 in setting new Best Times, all Silver,
including a 2 second cut in the W10&U 50 Back for a 38.84.
Jackie Viotto, taking a break from her Morristown High School swim
season, joined the fast paced MCSC with 3 Best Times of her own,
including a 2:35.94 W200IM and a 1:14.55 100 Back. Brother Justin
also had 3 Best Times, including slashing 7.10 from the M10&U 100
Free for a 1:30.29.
Convent Station swimmer Fara Cohen
scored Silver Times in 6 of 6 events, including 2+ second drops in
the W10&U 50 Back in 43.42 and 100 Breast in 1:38.49.
From Morris Plains, Rachel Ahlmeyer cut
time in 3 of her events, including a 4 second cut in the W10&U
200 Free with a 3:09.51. Meaghan Ferguson slipped 0.35 from her
W11-12 50 Free to finish in 39.86. Shannon Keller swam to a Silver
Time of 1:19.66 in the W10&U 100 Free. Amber Zorn completed the
Best Times for the club with an improvement in the W11-12 50 Back in
46.28 and 50 Free in 36.91.

just been at the meets. More than 250 swimmers have taken part in the
2 and ˝ year-old clubs practices this season and inquiries by
new prospects have continued at a fast pace. The MCSC has set up new
programs for athletes that want to practice, but not have to make the
commitment that club swimming sometimes warrants. The MCSC is
offering a new, simplified High School Swimmer pay-as-you-go Program
for non-club swimmers that want to continue training after the HS
season. The MCSC has also scheduled practice time at a new 2nd
location, the County College of Morris. This impressive facility will
host MCSC practices beginning on March 3 on Monday, Wednesday and
Fridays through June 20 and again in the Fall, from September up
until the High School season begins. Last years popular “Spring
Training Program”, for swimmers that want to train for their summer
league teams, is starting earlier this year and is scheduled to begin
March 3rd, with practice times at CCM and Morristown
Beard. The Sharks Last Chance Meet was held at the Felix Festa Middle
School February 9-10, a 25-yard pool facility, in West Nyack NY. More

Locals Snatch Silver & Gold From Sharks
Garrett Pullis of Boonton Twp snatched
6 Gold Times in 6 events, to lead the Morris County Swim Club to 22
Gold Times, 40 Silver Times and 124 Best Times at the NY Sharks Last
Chance Meet. From Denville, Brian Stiles took 3 Gold Times, while
sister Jessica earned her first Gold of the season and Stephanie
Harris also brought home Gold. Gold Times qualify the swimmers for
the NJ Championship meet, the Junior Olympics to be held in March.
Pullis earned 4 1st place
finishes, a 2nd and a 3rd with 5 of 6 Best
Times. The second place came in an older age bracket event, the Men’s
Open 50 Freestyle. With a fast turn at the 25-yard mark, Pullis
propelled into 2nd place and finished with a 23.64, a 0.73
second improvement. He swam to strong finishes in his age bracket,
setting a personal Best Time in the M13-14 200IM (Individual Medley)
in 2:09.06, better by 4.90 and took off 6 seconds in the 200
Breaststroke to finish 2:29.13.
Brian Stiles also cruised to 5 of 6
Best Times and adding 2 Silver Times to the 3 Gold. The Silver Times
qualify the swimmer for the Silver Championships, the final
opportunity to earn Gold Times before the Junior Olympics. Stiles had
2 2nd place finishes; a 1:58.97 M13-14 200 Freestyle, an
improvement of 2.10 and a 1:01.22 100 Backstroke, 2.95 better. Sister
Jessica earned 3 Silver Times, including a 4 second drop in the
W11-12 100 Butterfly to finish 1:19.11. Her Gold came in a 0.83
improvement in the 50 Freestyle in a fast 27.62, good for 7th
place. Harris’ Gold came in the W10&U 100 Freestyle, improving
by 0.79 for a 1:12.07. She also earned Silver Times in the 100IM and
50 Fly.
Earning Silver Times from Denville were
Anna Baccaglini in the W11-12 50 Back and Free, Nicole Harris in the
W13-14 200 Back and 100 Free, Molly Shaffer in the W10&U 100
Breast with a 8.93 improvement to finish 1:47.66, her first Silver
and Michael Stiles in the M10&U 100 Back and 100 Breast, both
with 5+ second improvements. Annie Shaffer, cut time in 5 of 6 events
including a 9 second drop in the W13-13 200 Back to finish 2:57.38.
Cort Schroth, a Morris Knolls HS athlete, charged to 5 top-10
finishes, including a 3rd in the M200 Free in 2:02.12.
Juliann Stiles slashed 6 seconds to finish th W10&U 50 Back in
53.74. James Koppelmann is knocking on the 1-minute mark, finishing
the M10&U 50 Breast in 1:02.05. Andrew Strelec added to his
strong performances this season with cuts in 2 of 3 events, including
a 7 second improvement in the M11-12 100 Fly to finish 1:24.88.
From Rockaway, Carlos Guevara grabbed a
9th place finish in the M 200IM, slicing 4.88 to finish
2:45.64. Jake Keszthelyi cut time in 3 events, including a 1:45.31 in
the M10&U 100 Free.
From Parsippany, Jason Jin snipped time
in 3 of 4 events, including a 1.43 drop in the M11-12 50 Free to
finish 34.61.
From Kinnelon, Ankit Khosla carved time
in 2 events, with a 4.30 drop in the M10&U 50 Breast in 1:06.18
and an 8.88 drop in the 50 Fly for a 1:14.09.
From Montville, Jessily Crispyn dropped
time in her 4 events, with a 44.46 W10&U 50 Free, 1:06.25 50
Breast, 52.92 50 Back and 1:44.81 100 Free.
Jefferson Twp’s Courtney Good took
home a Silver Time in the W100 Back with a time of 1:10.14.
Other Gold Times for the MCSC included

Swim with Sharks
The Morris County Swim Club swam to a
club record 22 Gold, 40 Silver and 124 Best Times at the Sharks Last
Chance Meet February 9 & 10. Gold and Silver Times qualify the
athletes for the NJ Championship meets. Randolph swimmers contributed
to the clubs haul at the Sharks meet.
Matt Linz earned 3 Silver Times while
cruising to 6 Best Times in his 6 events. The Silvers came in the
Men’s 11-12 age group. His 200 Freestyle was 2:30.34, 3.95 seconds
better, the 50 Backstroke in 36.63 and 50 Freestyle in 29.90.
Matthew Finkelstein grabbed a Silver
Time in the M10&Under 100IM (Individual Medley), dropping 2.28 to
finish in 1:33.20. Also in the M10&U group, Jared Rosen dropped
1.87 in the 50 Backstroke for a 47.42 finish. On the Women’s 10&U
side, Charlie Trinco scored 2 Silver Times and improved in 4 events.
The Silver Times came in the 50 & 100 Breaststroke events. Her
1:36.98 100 Backstroke time came within 8-tenths of a second of
another Silver.
Taking time out from their High School
swim season 13-14 age group swimmers Lexi Krynicki and Stacy
Finkelstein snared 8 Best Times. Krynicki’s improvements included a
4.29 drop in the 200 Backstroke for a 2:53.74 and a 1.40 cut for a
1:25.95 100 Breaststroke. Finkelstein was flying at the meet posting
improvements in the 100 Butterfly for a 1:14.27 and a 2:54.38 200
Fly.

Snatches Silver & Gold From Sharks
Hollie Hopf of Succasunna led the
Morris County Swim Club to a club record 22 Gold Times, 40 Silver and
124 Best Times at the Sharks Last Chance Meet February 9 & 10.
Hopf earned 2 Gold Times and 4 Silvers
at the meet. The Gold Times qualify the swimmer for the NJ
Championships, the Junior Olympics being held in March at Rutgers
University. Silver Times give the swimmer another opportunity for
Gold at the final qualifying meet of the season. Competing in the
W10&U 100 Fly for the 1st time, Hopf swam to an
impressive 1:23.99 for one Gold and earned the other with a 7th
place finish in the 50 Fly in a 35.58. Her Silver Times came in the
100 Back in 1:30.06, 50 Breast in 46.00, 50 Back in 41.74 and 50 Free
in 32.67.
Also from Succasunna, Riley Cummis
earned Best Times in all 3 of her events, a 51.82 W10&U 50
Breast, a 1:32.30 100 Free and a 48.44 50 Fly, which was better by
2.81 seconds. Julia Bresney competed in the W10&U 50 Breast with
a 1:13.38. Alina Demirel scored Best Times by 3 seconds each in the
W10&U 50 Back in 48.74, 100 Breast in 1:52.15 and 50 Free in
39.86.Patrick Rose swam in 3 events including a 1:27.90 M10&U 100
Free.

Amanda Wisolmerski of Florham Park cut
time in her W13-14 100 Breaststroke to finish 1:25.51 and also earned
a Silver Time of 1:12.80 in the 100 Backstroke at the NY Sharks Meet
February 9-10. The MCSC swam to a club record 22 Gold Times, 40

slashed 8.89 seconds from the M200 Freestyle for a 2:40.35. Sister
Leanne cut 2.63 in the W200 IM. Chrissy Wisolmerski trimmed time to
finish the W50 Freestyle in 33.46.
Harry Townsend of Chatham swam to a
Best Time 1:56.26 in the M10&U 100 Freestyle.
Kyle Lee of Madison earned Best Times
in the M11-12 50 Backstroke in 41.90 and 50 Freestyle in 34.36.
