MCSC Goes The Distance!


The MCSC athletes went the distance with 26 of 28 swimmers with Best Times! Congratulations to all swimmers on excellent efforts throughout the Distance Derby meet!


For: Morristown Area

The A, B, C’s of Swimming


Rachel Ahlmeyer, Patrick Bauer and Fara Cohen led the Morris County Swim Club to 55 new Best Times in 64 swims at the recent Distance Derby held at Newark Academy.


From Morris Plains, Rachel Ahlmeyer improved her times in five of five events. Ahlymeyer dropped 24.31 seconds to finish with a Silver Time of 1:32.85 in the W10&U 100 Back. The Silver time qualifys the swimmer for the Silver Championships to be held at Newark Academy in late February. Shannon Keller slashed 39.63 as she finished the W12&U 500 Free in 8:05.42.


From Morristown, Patrick Bauer cut time in four of five events, including setting a Silver Time in the M10&U 100 Back with a time of 1:32.05, a big accomplishment for an 8-year old. Gabrielle Ferrara finished the W12&U 500 Free in 8:26.40, an excellent first effort in the event. Maura Scully enjoyed a finish of 8:06.23 in the W12&U 500 Free.


Fara Cohen of Convent Station improved in four of four events, in the W10&U 100IM in 1:35.20, 100 Free in 1:23.72, 100 Breast in 1:49.79 and 500 Free in 8:24.42.

For: Denville

Denville Dives Into Distance


At the Distance Derby Meet from Denville, Brian Stiles and Chuck Kohaut set the pace for Morris County Swim Club athletes with 2 top 5 finishes in the Mens Open 1000 Free. Stiles’ 3rd place mark was 11:31.45, also good qualifying for the Silver Championships and Kohaut finished in 12:23.01 for 5th place. Stephanie Harris followed up with a Best and Silver Time of 7:34.48 in the W12&U 500 Free. Anna Baccglini went the distance as she cut 42 seconds from her 1000 Free to finish 14:10.05 and 6:52.05 in her 500 Free. Brittany Campo set a Best Time with a 13:33.82 in the W1000 Free. Nicole Harris swam under 13-minutes with a time of 12:56.89. Annie Shaffer cut 22.24 to finish the W1000Free in 14:57.73. Sister Molly dropped significant time in 4 events, the W12&U 200 Free in 3:23.04, 100IM in 1:42.78, 100 Free in 1:31.63 and 100 Breast in 1:58.37. Teammate Michael Stiles also cut time in the same events as Molly, on the M12&U slate. His 1:31.25 in the 100IM was good for a Silver Championships qualifying time. Jessica Stiles finished the W12&U 500 Free in 6:53.37 and swam to a first time 14:22.91 in the W1000 Free.

For: Randolph

Barrow & Trinco Have Best Times


Randolph athletes Catherine Barrow and Charlie Trinco set Best Times for the Morris County Swim Club at the Distance Derby Swim Meet.


Catherine Barrow set a personal Best Time in the W12&U 500 Free with a time of 8:17.83. Charlie Trinco had 5 excellent times, including cutting 50 seconds to swim in a Silver Championships qualifying time of 1:44.63 in the W10&U 100 Breast. She also took 28.40 off for a Best Time in the 200 Free in 3:21.65 and 15 seconds off in both the 100 Back and 100 Free. The Silver Championships are the last opportunity for qualifying for the NJ Junior Olympics. Levi Krynicki set a Best Time with a 14:37.61 in the W1000 Free. Eric Rappeport competed in his first 1000 Free in a time of 13:27.03.

For: Lake Hopatcong

Good Times


Courtney Good of Lake Hopatcong dropped more than a minute in the W1000 Free, swimming to a Best Time and below the 13-minte mark, in 12:58.25. Sister Taylor followed up with a time of 8:50.12 in the W12&U 500 Free.


For: Mendham

Bizzie Keeps Busy


Bizzie Handen of Mendham set two Best Times at the recent Distance Derby Swim Meet She competed in both the W12&U 500 and 1000 freestyles for the first time. She swam the 500 in 8:24.99 and followed it up with a 17:37.32. Handen swims part time with the MCSC, splitting her time with other sports. She’s had a strong fall season for the club, cutting time in events at every meet. Allison Vilchinsky covered the W12&U 500 Free in 6:50.89 and had a strong first time 1000 Free, notching a time under 14 minutes with a 13:59.26.

Dennis Oussenko of East Hanover had two impressive races, cutting over a minute to finish the M10&U Back in 1:42.33 and taking 46.65 from the 200 Free to finish 3:33.40.


From Florham Park, Chrissy Wisolmerski slashed 1:04 to improve to 13:41.58 in the W1000 Free. Leann Zaug followed up with a Silver Championships qualifying time, a 1:40 improvement to finish 6th in a time of 12:19.63.


Marie Psomas-Jackloski of Chatham dropped 38.76 to complete the W12&U Free in 13:27.03.
